RockIt Rugby

Coaching Platform UX and Development

RockIt Rugby is a mobile app for young rugby players to improve their skills through a virtual training programme.

Weekly challenges and missions are posted by the RockIt team and players, and coaches can engage with their team and parents through video and text messages. The app also includes a team feed for progress updates and communication.

The team worked closely with key stakeholders, including rugby coaches and players, to ensure the app met their needs while fulfilling the business vision and requirements.

The app is available on the Apple App Store and Android Play Store and has helped maximise club sign-ups for the first season pilot.

Developing young talent

RockIt Rugby is a mobile application designed to help young players improve their rugby skills through a scheduled virtual training programme.

Weekly video Challenges and Missions are posted to the app by the RockIt team and professional rugby players.

The players’ rugby team coach can also engage with his team and parents via video and text messages.

The young rugby players can also post videos of their progress and communicate with team members and the coach through the Team Feed.

The team worked closely with John Fletcher (former England and Newcastle Falcons) coach and Lee Manion (Primary PE Passport) to take their project vision from an idea to a roll-out project in tight timeframes before the start of the new season.

Delivering success

The Delightful team used their Human-Centred-Design approach to help us understand what the coaches and players needed from the app whilst ensuring the business vision and requirements were met. This involved engaging with key stakeholders at every stage of the process in order to optimise success.

RockIt Rugby is available on the Apple App Store and Android Play Store.

Our experience of working with Delightful has been an extremely positive one. We gave the Delightful team a challenging brief, to evolve the ‘RockIt Rugby’ brand identity and to design and build an app that can be used to help provide rugby training to different ages.

The team were extremely responsive and in challenging time frames which helped us launch the app before the start of the new season. This has enabled us to maximise club sign-ups for the first season pilot.

The Delightful team have enabled us to realise our vision for the product and developed a platform that can be used for other sports as well as rugby. We are very much looking forward to continuing to work with Delightful and further enhance our product.
